The ASA Aerospace Summer Internship Program is for high school and college students interested in pursuing careers in the aerospace industry. All students pursuing STEM- (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
The Internship Program will run for two weeks, a virtual week, followed by an in-person week in Alabama or a week in Colorado. This gives students ample time to experience what it’s like to work in various facets of the aerospace industry. Students will spend time at various aerospace facilities where they will have a chance to meet the best and the brightest in the aerospace industry, participate in hands-on activities, and get an exclusive behind the-scenes look at what each company does and some of the exciting projects they are working on.
It’s Not Rocket Science!
The ASA Aerospace Summer Internship Program is designed primarily to give rural and under-served students in Alabama and Colorado a pathway into the aerospace industry. The program is open to high school and college students. Students from other states and students not in rural or underserved areas will be accommodated if space is available.
This is an unpaid internship program for anyone interested in aerospace. Though aerospace is STEM oriented, there are opportunities in many career fields including business, program management, procurement, human resources, communications, legal, and others. The workforce consists of people with GEDs to PhDs and everywhere in between.
The program will feature a blend of virtual and in-person experiences, with one week virtually followed by one week in-state engaging students from Alabama and one week in-state in Colorado. During their time in the program, students will have the opportunity to engage with aerospace industry businesses, university programs, and nonprofits, learning about the opportunities and challenges facing the industry and gaining valuable hands-on experience.
It is called an internship as students may have the option to continue to work with their ASA Chapter following the program. There is no cost to participate, but students must generally pay any expenses associated with attending the in-person program. Scholarships may be available for those not able to afford to participate in the in-person programs.
DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED!
